{"id":2151,"date":"2013-06-11T11:47:23","date_gmt":"2013-06-11T08:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/?p=2151"},"modified":"2018-04-07T01:17:36","modified_gmt":"2018-04-06T22:17:36","slug":"al-rasheed-to-attend-gulf-development-meeting-in-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/al-rasheed-to-attend-gulf-development-meeting-in-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Al Rasheed to attend Gulf development meeting in UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi-gazzette-TFR.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2152\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi-gazzette-TFR-500x365.jpg\" alt=\"saudi gazzette TFR\" width=\"500\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi-gazzette-TFR-500x365.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi-gazzette-TFR-200x146.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi-gazzette-TFR-300x219.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tfrasheed.org\/e\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi-gazzette-TFR.jpg 546w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Al Rasheed to attend Gulf development meeting in UK<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>JEDDAH \u2014 Dr Turki Faisal Al Rasheed will be attending the 4th Annual Gulf Research Meeting at the University of Cambridge, UK on July 2-5, 2013 as director for the \u201cSustainable Development Challenges in the GCC\u201d workshop.<\/h1>\n<p>Dr Al Rasheed, a Visiting Research Fellow at Liverpool John Moores University, will be joined by his colleagues Professor David Bryde and Dr Yusra Mouzughi as directors too.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are increasingly being faced with the same challenges that Western countries have faced in terms of how to balance the need to develop their economies, while at the same time taking into account the impact of such developments on the environment, communities and individuals &#8211; the classic concepts of \u201cprofit\u201d vs. \u201cplanet\u201d vs. \u201cpeople\u201d or balancing the Triple Bottom Line of \u201cenvironmental\u201d, \u201ceconomic\u201d and \u201csocial\u201d sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Themes of the workshop include, among others, urban development, planning and real estate; climate change, environment and energy; water management; public and private sector issues; and knowledge &amp; awareness.<\/p>\n<p>Around 5,000 invitations were sent worldwide.
